Surviving Life’s Storms with Jesus

Every person on planet earth has gone through some sort of storm in their life. This can include, but is not limited to, physical and/or mental illness, a divorce, and even the death of a loved one. These things are all difficult to go through, especially alone. However, we are never alone in the storms that we must venture through. Jesus is always by our side, not watching, but going through our storms with us.

We as followers of Christ often forget that Jesus is with us no matter the storm we are currently going through. The disciples also struggled in seeing Jesus next to them in the storm that they faced. They were on a boat when they found themselves caught in a massive storm. They were terrified and surely thought they weren’t going to make it through it. However, the disciples saw Jesus walking on the rough water through the storm towards them. Peter decided to put his faith in Jesus and started walking on the water towards his Savior. As he got closer to Jesus, Peter began to put his focus on the storm rather than the One who was coming to save him. He began to sink and drown in the storm that he continued to focus on and was only able to be saved because of Jesus pulling him through the water back to Him.

How often do you find yourself doing this? We often focus on the turmoil, the stress, the storms in our lives rather than focusing on Jesus. He is always right there with us, we just need to put our focus on Him and stop doubting Jesus’ ability to rescue us from the storms in our lives. All it takes is faith in Jesus, the size of a mustard seed, to be saved from our sins and to get through the terrible storms that life throws at us. We can’t control life and what it throws at us. Only Jesus is capable of that. We must continue to give our all into fooling Him and trust Him with bringing us throw our storms.
