Bring Peace to Your Life

In the world today, Peace is an idea that has relatively escaped the minds of most people. In a world of darkness, confusion, and immorality, people are always looking for a way to escape their reality and find some sort of comfort in a reality that they create themselves. Often times, this reality is one that people imagine that brings them a temporary peace because it is a reality they wish they were living rather than their current circumstances. Little do they know, if they put their faith in God and strengthened their relationship with Him, they would find this sense of everlasting security that they have longed for their whole lives. Christ Himself laid the foundation for us to be able to do this and if we continue to get closer through our walk with Him, it will continue to become more natural for us and more powerful over time. That being said, what did Christ say that could help us find the peace we seek?

Let’s look at John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” The words Jesus are trying to relay to us here are that through Christ we obtain a sense of peace. This peace is brought on that no matter what we experience in life, no matter the struggle, there is a bigger picture. That picture is that Christ overcame the world and all the trials and tribulations that you will experience, none of them matter in the bigger picture because life here is short-lived and the eternal life we obtain through Christ will last forever.

Life can be overwhelming at times and it is human nature to feel that we are alone when things become difficult. God Himself has experienced those feelings when He came in the flesh to save humanity. It is important to remember that there is never a time when you are alone when you seek God and walk in the footsteps of Christ. It is also important to fellowship with believers in order to build a community of people that can help strengthen your faith and also pray for you and with you through your difficult times. God wants us to lean on Him. There is nothing you have done or could do that will prevent you from inheriting the Kingdom of Heaven. Believing in Christ and His death and resurrection will get you there and it is up to us to be lights in this dark and troubled world to help lead more people down the narrow path to salvation.
