One of the bigger anxieties that I have faced as a Christian is worrying whether or not I will truly go to Heaven after I die. This is brought on because of falling into patterns of sin and worrying that I am not living a life that is dedicated to Christ enough to be saved from eternal Hell. So, how can we know that we are truly saved?
Like everything, we must turn to scripture to get the answer we are looking for. In this case, we can look at Romans 10:9-10. These verses state that, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” What does this mean for us exactly?
This wonderful revelation shows that through faith alone we are saved. There is nothing we can do except have faith in our heart and ask Jesus to come into our life. This alone will save us from our sin because Christ paid the ultimate price with His life. He died and rose after 3 days which wiped away our sins if we believe in it. Our actions cannot save us, we cannot pay our way to heaven, it is truly through faith alone.
Remember, our walk with Christ is not easy. It is impossible to live a life sinless as the only one to do it was Christ, Himself. That is why He was the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Belief in this wonderful gift from God will allow us to spend eternity with Him.
